“The team started at the former Federal Environmental Assessment Review Office (FEARO) in 1994. The original name was HMS PinaFEARO, and the first team was comprised of mostly FEARO employees. FEARO became CEAA in the following year, and our name changed to PanaCEAA at that time (with “pan” from the Greek, meaning "to involve all”, either of CEAA or the sea, and panacea also having the meaning of being a cure). Over the years, Panaceaa has expanded its sources of paddlers to various government departments and agencies. Panaceaa paddled in the first Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival in 1994, and all others that followed over its 30 years.”
