Hi! Walnut Avenue Family & Women's Center means so much to me. I’m currently President-Elect and Development Chair on the board for Walnut Avenue Family & Women’s Center, a local nonprofit that’s been supporting women, children, and families in Santa Cruz County for decades. Our mission is to end cycles of trauma, support lifelong learning, and help build healthy relationships through programs like early childhood education, youth services, family support, and services for survivors of domestic violence.

Being deeply involved in Walnut Avenue’s work has shown me just how much this organization means to so many people in our community — from families getting quality childcare and basic needs support to survivors finding safety and advocacy. That’s why I’m fundraising: to help keep these life-changing services strong and growing.

Walnut Avenue has been the community partner for She.is.beautiful for the last 16 years! She.is.beautiful race for is an inspiring, uplifting, and welcoming space for humans to come together to sweat their story in all the seasons of life. We are dedicated to staying fluid and evolving to serve our local and global community. We are built from a foundation of love, joy, resiliency, and compassion and will stand united on our journey towards our best selves.

The short story, What we’re all about…

We believe that beauty is more of a feeling than a physical attribute. We believe everyone deserves to feel beautiful, strong, smart, and capable in their own unique way. We believe so strongly in the power of sweat and community. We think there is something powerful that happens when a women/girl learns how strong she really is and how this can impact the rest of their life. Sports are a great fielding ground to practice strength, goal setting, and perseverance.
