I’m running this marathon as a symbol of survival, healing, and forward motion. The past few years have brought losses and challenges that reshaped my life in ways I never expected. I lost my son, and with that loss came a depth of grief that changed me physically and emotionally. It was a heartbreak that reached every part of my body and spirit. Through all of this, I’ve learned that strength isn’t loud — it’s steady. It’s choosing to get up, choosing to keep going, choosing to rebuild even when the world feels heavy. Running has become a way for me to reclaim that strength. Every mile represents a piece of the journey I’ve already lived: the fear, the trauma, the love, the resilience, and the determination to keep moving. This marathon is more than a race. It’s a promise to myself that I will continue forward. It’s a tribute to my son. It’s a message to my granddaughter that healing is possible. And it’s a reminder that even in the hardest seasons, we can still choose hope.
