Thirty-six years ago, while deployed to the Doha, Qatar, during the Gulf War with the USAF’s 401st TFW(P), alongside the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Desert Cats and their CF-18’s, the French Air Force, and our Qatar Emiri Air Force hosts, a large portion of our air base defense was provided by the Royal 22e Régiment of the Canadian Army – the historic Québec-based “Van Doos”. They literally stood on guard for me. 

I’m proud to have entered this year’s Canada Army Run and will be driving to Ottawa for the 10K, to raise money for my Canadian servicemember allies – my friends. 

People have asked me, “But Mike, you’re not even Canadian, why?” Because I remember, you’re worth it, and I’ll stand on guard for thee.
