Mon histoire…
I'm running for my grandfather, L/Cpl Sidney Hampson, 10th Battalion CEF, 1915-1919, fought and led his troops at most of the famous Canadian Corps battles of WW1, including Vimy Ridge, and was wounded in the final 100 days of the war near Amiens. He returned to Moose Jaw to work 50 yrs on the CPR as a locomotive machinist in Moose Jaw. Also was inaugural member of the Royal Canadian Legion 100 years ago, was a school trustee, returned to the opening of the Vimy Monument in 1936, married, and had 2 boys. He was a great Canadian who gave all throughout his life, always carrying the bullet fragments in his shoulder for the rest of his life. He is but one example of many great Canadians, not to mention my great Uncle John Sealy, 46th Battalion, killed immediately following the Battle of Vimy Ridge and buried at Villers Station War Cemetery in France. All of them heroes who deserve our remembrance.
