Aidez John à recueillir des fonds

Many, if not all of us had a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or more immediate family member serve in Canada’s Armed Forces. Personally I never served but deeply appreciate the sacrifice of those who are serving or did served in our armed forces. 

In order to give back I am running the Commander’s Challenge at this years Army Run in Ottawa. The Commander’s Challenge is completing the 5km race followed by the half marathon. I am raising funds for the races two charities, Soldier On, and Support Our Troops.

I am running these races in memory of my grandfather Clarence Helsdon who fought, and was injured in World War One. I have chosen $750 as the fund raising amount as it will purchase a piece of sporting equipment for a Soldier On member to support their rehabilitation and recovery through sport. 

Please reflect on the sacrifices of those who served and those who are currently serving in our armed forces and give generously. A small financial sacrifice on our parts can help soldiers and their families. 

I will dig deep and run both races hard on race day whilst reflecting on the sacrifice my grandfather made and being joyous that he came home alive while many of his peers did not. Please dig deep and donate.
