My Story…
Hi
This will be my second year swimming the 3 k Bring on The Bay! It was super emotional and a dream of mine to do this type of event. I swam it in 1 hr and 5 minutes. I’m going to knock out under one hour this next time.
I’ve have loved swimming since age eight. I swam for ELAC age group, Laurentian University, East York Masters and Then Owen Sound Masters. As a young girl I was then diagnosed. I had idiopathic juvenile arthritis and still suffer with additional polyarticular progressive osteoarthritis. I’m in a lot of pain everyday. I don’t let this get me down. The water and swimming are my salvation. Swimming was and is my only sport. To this day I’m in the pool as it the only way for me to stay healthy.
I’m in this journey for me and for my step daughter Kayla who is special needs. She is 28 with a rare genetic disorder known as Dravet’s syndrome. It is characterized by epilepsy, seizures, growth stunting and cognitive impairment. She has been a part of the Easter Seal programming and camps.
She is a bundle of joy and a ray of sunshine. I swim for her!
Let’s do this and help Easter Seals.
