My Story…
Running for Roxy, Chico, and the animals who need a second chance
On October 18th, I'll be running the Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon to raise money for the Toronto Humane Society - a cause that is especially meaningful to me because two of my own animals came into my life through THS.
In 2009, I adopted my cat, Roxy. She gave me 17 wonderful years of companionship and recently passed away. I'm incredibly grateful that the Humane Society brought us together and gave us all those years.
In 2021, we adopted our dog, Chico. Chico is a fearful dog, and the Humane Society provided us with free training to help us understand his fears and learn how to manage them. That support taught us how to give Chico the best life possible and helped us understand that sometimes helping an animal means learning how to meet them where they are.
Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and my love for them is also one of the reasons I'm vegan. I've run the Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon twice before and the full marathon once, but this time I'll have an extra reason to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
If you're able to donate, even a small amount would mean a lot to me, and will help the Toronto Humane Socity continue giving animals the care, support, and second chances they deserve.
Thank you for supporting me and the animals! 🐾
