My Story…
This will be my fourth year participating in the annual waterfront race, but it's a special year for me as I'll be running the whole thing (not walking!) and celebrating ten years of fostering.
I am always asked, "How can you do this? Isn't fostering hard?"
But my first foster cat was a kitten pulled from a kill-shelter last minute, who I watched be put down at an emergency clinic after midnight because, out of nowhere, he exhibited symptoms of a heart condition that was rapidly paralyzing his whole body. I learned then fostering will never be as hard as the cold alternative.
For one-third of my life, I've shared my home with cats pulled from kill-shelters or hoarding situations, or found on the streets in rough condition and afraid. I am grateful this work exists so that foster homes like mine may be their stepping stone to a warmer future, or in Ari's case, the softest final landing pad.
This work is time and labour intensive, and expensive. It involves a village of volunteers, partner vets, community feeders, trappers, drivers, interim homes, behaviourists, and donors like you.
Please help us to continue this work of lifting up the cats who are forgotten and neglected. We're beyond grateful for donations in any amount. 🤍🐈⬛🐾🪽
