Support My 5K Walk for HF Care

I’m joining Team HF Care at the Toronto Waterfront 5K because this cause is very personal to me.

My older brother lived with mental illness, and both of us received support from HF Care, him as a service recipient and me as a caregiver. That experience showed me how important it is for individuals and families to have a place where they can feel understood, supported and treated with dignity.

I’ve also been volunteering with HF Care for many years. Last year, I was honoured to receive the Ontario Volunteer Service Award, recognizing 20 years of service with HF Care’s North York office.

Walking has always been something I enjoy, especially when it gives me the chance to spend time in nature, connect with others and take care of my own health. Taking part in the 5K gives me the opportunity to do all of that while supporting a cause that has meant so much to my family and me.

By participating in the Toronto Waterfront 5K, I hope to help HF Care continue providing culturally rooted mental health support for individuals, caregivers and families across our communities.

我參加 Team HF Care 嘅多倫多湖濱 5 公里活動，因為呢個議題對我嚟講非常個人。

我哥哥曾經受精神健康問題困擾，而我哋兩個都曾經得到 HF Care 嘅幫助。他作為服務使用者得到支援，而我就以照顧者嘅身份得到協助。呢段經歷令我深深明白，當個人同家庭面對精神健康挑戰時，有一個真正理解佢哋、支持佢哋，並且尊重佢哋嘅地方有幾重要。

我亦已經喺 HF Care 做義工好多年。去年，我好榮幸獲頒安省義工服務獎，以表揚我喺 HF Care 北約克辦事處服務超過 20 年。

我一直都好鍾意行路，尤其係可以親近大自然、同其他人連繫，同時照顧自己身心健康嘅時候。今次參加 5 公里活動，對我嚟講唔單止係一次步行，更係一個機會，去支持一個對我同我家人都非常重要嘅機構。

透過參加今次多倫多湖濱 5 公里活動，我希望可以幫助 HF Care 繼續為有需要嘅人士、照顧者同家庭提供具文化背景、語言同社區需要嘅精神健康支援。
