My name is Rommel, and I have been with Greenpeace for over 10 years, starting as a volunteer and now serving as a full-time staff member. On race day, I am taking on the 2026 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon to run for something far bigger than a finish line: the future of our planet and all who call it home.

We are living through a global climate crisis. Across the world, rising temperatures, extreme weather, and environmental destruction are threatening fragile ecosystems and pushing countless species toward extinction. Most critically, this crisis does not affect everyone equally, it hits the most vulnerable communities first and hardest, deepening inequality and displacing millions who have done the least to cause it.

Organizations like Greenpeace play a crucial role in tackling this crisis head-on. Through non-violent, creative campaigning and direct, peaceful confrontation, Greenpeace holds accountable the powerful corporations and government entities profiting at the expense of our planet. Because this work exposes the truth and challenges deep-rooted financial interests, powerful entities continually try to silence organizations like Greenpeace.

That is why standing up today is more important than ever. By supporting Greenpeace, we ensure our collective voices cannot be silenced and that the fight for a fair, sustainable, and better world for all species continues.
