Help Ali raise money

Dear Friends,

 I have participated in the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition’s Against the Tide annual fundraising event at Nickerson State Park since 2002. This year I dedicate the one-mile swim to my nieces, nephews, and their children.  With every kick around the pond there is this prayer for all the people in my heart who have been affected by breast cancer and other cancers. I think of family and friends who are living with cancer. I think of the children that depend on them. They need us to act. 

When my sister was diagnosed in 2001, it was she that brought me to the hospital that day. It felt like my heart broke in two. Turns out it was anxiety that physically hurt.  She said, “We need to keep going. We can do something.”

 During that time, we walked all over the Town of Chatham. We got lost on random streets that took us way off the path.  Some days she felt like stopping and laying in the road, but perseverance and determination won.  

 Strength comes from community. Hope comes from working together by taking an action; we can take action in many ways. My way is swimming. Our team “Do It Now” will walk, swim, or run on June 27 at Nickerson State Park in hope and remembrance.   We cannot do this important work alone.

 Join us any way you can: register, join a team, donate, volunteer to put up posters, spread the word. Sign up for a friend who cannot participate.   It’s a morning event for the whole family with a lovely pond, a scenic trail, and wonderful sponsors who bring food, music, and Hope.
