My Story…

I was told I would never walk again, let alone run. I broke my neck in a freestyle skiing accident, which left me temporarily paralyzed from the neck down.

My recovery to this point has taken years and years of work. I still can't fully feel my legs or hands and suffer from pain and other symptoms of a spinal cord injury, but I am VERY lucky I get to run.

I don't take my strides for granted and am grateful every day.

As I prepare for the Royal Victoria Marathon this October, I’m proud to be teaming up with the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island to raise funds for a cause that feels deeply aligned with my story and values.

CHFVI supports children, youth, and families across Vancouver Island through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, including helping families access accommodation and support when a child needs medical care away from home.

That hits close to home for me.

After my spinal cord injury in 2013, my family spent months supporting me through hospital stays, rehabilitation, uncertainty, and the financial and emotional weight that comes with a life-changing medical event.

Now, as a father, I understand even more deeply how much support matters when a family is facing the unthinkable.
