My Story…
I’m running this half marathon in support of the BC Cancer Foundation, whose work helps provide critical cancer research, care, and support for patients and families across British Columbia.
Everyone has a cancer connection, myself included. In 2020, I lost my mom to cancer, and running this race is a way for me to honour her memory while supporting a cause that means so much to me and so many others. My mom loved nature, cared deeply about making the world a better place, and always encouraged me to try new things and push through difficult moments. Running this half marathon is a way for me to carry her strength, compassion, and encouragement with me every step of the way.
As a co-op student with BC Cancer Prevention, Screening and Hereditary Cancer, I’ve had the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible impact BC Cancer has on individuals, families, and communities throughout B.C. Every day, I see the importance of early detection, research, prevention, and compassionate care.
This run is for my mom, for everyone impacted by cancer, and for the ongoing fight against the many different forms of cancer that affect individuals and families every day. Any donation, big or small, will help support the life-changing work BC Cancer continues to do across the province.
