I was part of the 91 percent who had never heard of CMV, October of 2023 changed that when my niece, Ruth, was born with cCMV. Ruth came into this world against all odds, 2 pounds 16 ounces of pure grit and determination which helped her break barriers set in her path. Barriers she had, with some of the most extreme developmental challenges the disease presents to include brain development, organ growth and ascites. In June of 2024, Ruth lost her hard fought battle with CMV. Since then, advocating and education has been the goal to raise awareness to others. I am looking forward to honoring her memory and spreading awareness for CMV for the Philadelphia Half Marathon and truly appreciate your support!

The mission of the National CMV Foundation is to prevent pregnancy loss, childhood death, and lifelong disability caused by congenital CMV (cCMV).
