My Story…
On November 21, I’ll be running the Philadelphia Half Marathon with the Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation team to raise funds and awareness for babies like Henry, who are born with Hemolytic Disease of the Fetal Newborn.
After missteps in my prenatal care, Henry was born 5 weeks early with HDFN, hydrops fetalis, kidney failure, and several other complications all due to the severity of his HDFN.
He spent 50 days in the NICU with staff who advocated for him every single hour of every day. He would not be here today without their support, knowledge, and speaking up during daily rounds.

I'm running this half marathon for Henry and for all of the other babies affected by HDFN and alloimmunization. We deserve better standards of care - for both prenatal care and NICU care.
Description
I’m running Philadelphia Marathon Weekend with Team MAF to support families affected by maternal alloimmunization and HDFN.
Maternal alloimmunization happens when a pregnant person develops antibodies that can attack a baby’s red blood cells. This can lead to hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn, or HDFN, a serious condition that can cause severe anemia, jaundice, NICU stays, blood transfusions and in the most heartbreaking cases, loss.
The Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation supports families through education, advocacy, care packages, patient resources and community support. Their work helps families feel less alone and helps raise awareness around a condition that too many people have never heard of until they are facing it themselves.
Every mile I run is for these babies and families.
Thank you for supporting my fundraiser and helping MAF protect babies before and after birth.
