My Story…
Cancer became deeply personal to me when my grandmother Judy— the woman who raised me, my biggest supporter, my angel—was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was the person who shaped who I am today and losing her to cancer left a hole in my heart that can never be filled but in that grief, has given me purpose.
As I train for my next marathon, log countless miles, in the rain, heat, early mornings, late nights and whatever obstacles fall in between, I carry her with me. Running has become more than just exercise; it gives purpose and meaning to every step I take. During the long runs, I often find myself thinking about her, remembering her love, her strength, and the countless ways she impacted my life and how proud I know she is of me. When the miles get tough, it's her memory that helps keep me moving forward.
I'm raising money in her honor and in memory of all those we've lost to cancer. My hope is that through research, support, and continued progress, fewer families will have to experience the pain of losing someone they love and give strength to those still in the fight.
