Help Mikaela raise money

Thank you for your support of Emily’s Entourage. Your generosity is forwarding research and drug development for individuals in the final 10% of the cystic fibrosis (CF) community who do not benefit from currently available mutation-targeted therapies. 

I have a very personal connection to the CF community. My dad, William Mahaney, was born and lived with CF. He was not diagnosed until he was nineteen years old, which is very late as it is typically detected in childhood. Even so, my dad was very active and an avid runner. In November 2009 my dad was lucky enough to receive a double-lung transplant, though there are individuals in the CF community who are not a candidate for this form of treatment. His strength, determination, and love of family and life gained him a successful recovery. This was his second chance at life and afforded him another beautiful ten years.  

Sadly, my dad passed away from cancer, which developed due to the anti-rejection medications required to be taken in conjunction with his transplant, on October 2, 2020.

I learned of Emily’s Entourage from my colleague, mentor, and friend, Jen Tintenfass. I immediately knew I wanted to get involved with this wonderful foundation and support the amazing work Jen’s friend Emily, the foundation’s living founder, is doing for the CF community. 

I am running the 2026 Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon in my dad’s memory and to help raise money to further fund research for a cure for the final 10% of people with CF.
