My Story…
This fall I will be running in the Constantine Yorkville 5K charity run.
The charity I am supporting is Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter. As a pediatrician I see first hand the importance of women and children living in safety. What should be a fundamental right remains an ideal constantly under siege.
“Since 1983, we’ve helped over 15,000 women, children, and gender-diverse people rebuild with dignity and independence. Today, we serve over 700 survivors each year.”
In Canada 44% of women and 60% of queer, trans and gender-diverse people have experienced gender-based violence.
“Ernestine’s is a safe place to land and a strong place to start again - on your own terms and at your own pace.”
I think if you try to donate via my page the donation goes to the OMA, so instead, you can donate directly to the amazing women at Ernestine’s.
In solidarity,
Saxena
PS - yes, I am running with other OMA members, but we are allowed to choose to fundraise for the charity that resonates the most with our core values and ideals as they relate to health.
Description
I am running for the Ontario Medical Foundation, the charitable subsidiary of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), which addresses health equity and supports the next generation of physicians in Ontario.
