Running With Purpose: Giving Back to Casa Familiar 🇺🇸🇲🇽🏃🏿‍♂️

My name is Dejuan White. I'm a proud United States Navy veteran, a single father of three beautiful children, and someone who believes in the power of perseverance, community, and giving back.

Life has presented me with many challenges, from serving my country to navigating the responsibilities of raising my children as a single father. Through it all, I've learned the importance of resilience, determination, and having a strong support system.

Running has become more than just a physical activity for me. It's a way to challenge myself mentally and physically, find peace, and remind myself that no matter what obstacles life throws our way, we can always keep moving forward. After recently completing my first half marathon, I'm excited to take on the San Diego–Tijuana Binational 12K, a race that connects two communities that hold a special place in my heart.

But this time, I'm running for something bigger than myself.

I'm proud to raise funds for Casa Familiar, a nonprofit organization that has been serving families and communities in San Ysidro and South San Diego County for over 50 years.

Casa Familiar works to improve the quality of life for underserved families by providing essential resources such as affordable housing assistance, social services, educational and youth programs, financial empowerment, advocacy, and community development.

This organization holds a special place in my heart because Casa Familiar has personally helped my own family during a time when we needed support.

As a father, I understand how important it is to have organizations that genuinely care about families and their well-being. Sometimes, a little help at the right moment can make a tremendous difference in someone's life.

Now, I'm in a position where I can give back, and that's exactly what I want to do.

My goal isn't just to cross the finish line. It's to help make a difference for another parent, another child, or another family who may be facing challenges of their own.
