My Story…
I am by no means an athlete.
I don't glide effortlessly through runs, I don't wake up excited for hill sprints, and there have definitely been moments during training where I've questioned all my life choices. But I do love running and more importantly, I appreciate the privilege of being able to run.
That's why I'm taking on the Tooheys Trail Run 10km and raising funds for Diabetes Australia.
Every day, more than 300 Australians are diagnosed with diabetes. That's one person every five minutes. And with almost 1.9 million Australians living with diabetes, chances are you know, love, or work alongside someone whose life is impacted by this condition.
As someone who works at Diabetes Australia, I see firsthand the difference that education, support, advocacy, and access to resources can make. Diabetes doesn't take a day off, and neither does the need for support.
So, while my legs may be questioning my decision somewhere around kilometre eight, I'll be thinking about the people living with diabetes every single day. They'll be my motivation to keep moving forward.
This run isn't about setting records or chasing podium finishes. It's about doing something positive with the ability I have and helping raise funds so that more Australians can access the support, education, and programs they need to live well.
If you're able to donate, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every contribution, big or small, helps make a real difference.
Thank you for supporting me, cheering me on, and helping me turn sweaty kilometres into meaningful impact.
