My Story
IN LOVING MEMORY OF ERIC
This is my 4th time running the Sporting Life 10K this year in honour of my brother Eric. Eric was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at 8 years old and was 10 when he passed away. During his time at SickKids Hospital, Campfire Circle provided my brother with in-hospital programs when he was too sick to attend overnight camp. These programs, along with weekends at Camp helped raise my brother's spirits and I am thankful that Campfire Circle provided Eric with a place where he was able to meet other children like him, a place where he could just have fun and feel like a kid again.
My goal is to raise $2500 for a week of camp at Campfire Circle as they are the only camp in Canada that can provide on-site IV chemotherapy and blood transfusions, allowing sick children to receive the treatment that they need during camp. I am also thankful that they provided me with an amazing support system, as l also attended camp with other children who had lost siblings to cancer like I did.

For 42 years, Campfire Circle has brought healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. Through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camp programs, we create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. By providing play-based experiences, we empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. Today, more than 40,000 children in Ontario are living with serious illnesses. With your help, we can reach even more of them. Our goal is to serve 10,000 kids by 2030, and when you donate to the Sporting Life 10K, you join a circle committed to that vision.
