My Story
There is truly no greater feeling than participating in the #SL10K run each year. It’s a chance to give back and support children fighting cancer, something I am proud to do after all that #SickKids and #CampFireCircle have done for our Mighty Mateja!
When Mateja was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at just 5 months old, it shook us to our core. We never saw this coming. But it was from that moment, we knew we had to fight for her with everything we had. Today, I’m beyond grateful to share that after an incredibly tough battle, our Mighty Mateja is a true champion. She’s now 14 1/2 years old, living with so much energy, joy, and a smile that lights up every room.
Every year, we participate in this run for our #MightyMateja, for every child going through their own fight, and for the warriors who continue to inspire us all. We are forever grateful to our family and friends who have supported us throughout this journey, and we continue to feel the love and strength they’ve given us every step of the way ❤
This year, I’m asking for your help to make a difference. The #SL10K run on Sunday, May 10th, is more than just a race. It's an opportunity to help #CampFireCircle provide children with cancer a space where they can just be kids. It’s about giving families the community they need during the toughest times of their lives, surrounded by love, support, and strength.
Please consider supporting us and the incredible work that #CampFireCircle does. Your donation makes a real impact and helps create a world of hope for kids like Mateja and so many others.

Description
Bring Joy, Friendship, and Connection to Kids Who Need It Most Every day, thousands of kids across Ontario face cancer or serious illness – and miss out on the moments that make up childhood. Laughter, friendship, and adventure are replaced with hospital visits and isolation. For 42 years, Campfire Circle has brought healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. Through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camp programs, we create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. By providing play-based experiences, we empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. Today, more than 40,000 children in Ontario are living with serious illnesses. With your help, we can reach even more of them. Our goal is to serve 10,000 kids by 2030, and when you donate to the Sporting Life 10K, you join a circle committed to that vision. Your generosity ensures every medically fragile child can experience Campfire Circle’s life-changing programs when they need it most, at no cost to their families. Together, we can grow our circle of care and help deliver healing through happiness to more kids and families across Ontario. |
