My "Why" for the Sporting Life 10K
As many of you know, our Spin Master team is gearing up for the Sporting Life 10K. While I'm excited to run alongside all of you, I wanted to take a moment to share a personal story that is the driving force behind my commitment to our team's fundraising goal for Campfire Circle.
This cause is deeply personal to me. When my nephew was just two years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia. For the next six years, he, my sister, and our entire family navigated the difficult journey of his illness. That period of our lives shaped him and all of us in profound ways. I often think about how much we would have appreciated an organization like Campfire Circle to support him and our family through that challenging time.
Campfire Circle does incredible work, providing a space for children facing serious illness to simply be kids. They offer in-hospital, community, and overnight camp programs that allow these children to laugh, build friendships, and develop self-confidence—all at no cost to their families. For these kids, it's a chance to rediscover the joy of childhood that can be overshadowed by hospital visits and treatments.
That is why I'm so passionate about this cause. I know the impact a serious illness can have on a family, and I want to do everything I can to help other families find the support and happiness that Campfire Circle provides. As it has been said, my run is what I do, but your support is why I do it.

Bring Joy, Friendship, and Connection to Kids Who Need It Most Every day, thousands of kids across Ontario face cancer or serious illness – and miss out on the moments that make up childhood. Laughter, friendship, and adventure are replaced with hospital visits and isolation. For 42 years, Campfire Circle has brought healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. Through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camp programs, we create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. By providing play-based experiences, we empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. Today, more than 40,000 children in Ontario are living with serious illnesses. With your help, we can reach even more of them. Our goal is to serve 10,000 kids by 2030, and when you donate to the Sporting Life 10K, you join a circle committed to that vision. Your generosity ensures every medically fragile child can experience Campfire Circle’s life-changing programs when they need it most, at no cost to their families.
