My Story…

My name is DJ Bishop and I am the founder and president of Bishstrong Foundation Inc. In May of 2016 I suffered a severe spinal cord injury in a diving accident which left me a C4 quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. Since my injury, I have been surrounded by family and friends whose support has allowed me to work to harder than ever at recovery.

In April 2023, I started the Bishstrong Foundation as a way to help others like me living with paralysis to keep moving, stay active and Make Every Day Count.Through fundraising our foundation purchases adaptive equipment to help paralyzed individuals do just that.

Ryan Feeney and I are excited to once again be competing in the Falmouth Road Race this year. This will be our seventh time competing as a duo and the third year that we will be running to raise money for my foundation. I am excited and grateful to be able to do this along with a great team of runners who will be representing the Bishstrong Foundation.

Ryan, a longtime friend and huge supporter of me and my mission, is the founder of ASDFIt Boston and ASDFIT Rec. Prior to my injury we were opponents on the baseball field for years but never had the chance to play on the same team until we teamed up to run in Falmouth.

The Falmouth Road Race has been and will continue to be a highlight of our summer. Please consider supporting Ryan and I as we set out on August 16th to run this race with the goal of raising money to make a difference in the lives of those living with paralysis.
