Like so many others, cancer has had a profound impact on my life. Friends, colleagues, and many loved ones have wrestled with the uncertainty, the brutal treatments, and the unique, transformative grief that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

My mother, Cindy Mitchell, fought her metastatic breast cancer until her passing in 2004. As a child watching her battle the scariest disease I could imagine, she showed unimaginable resilience and grit, while still making time to support those in her community. 

So when I received the opportunity to run the Falmouth Road Race, I knew I wanted to support the American Cancer Society and raise money in dedication of my mom, and the lasting impact she's had on those of us fortunate to have known her.

But I know so many who have stories similar to mine—who have battled cancer, or supported loved ones battling cancer. And I'd like to dedicate my run to all of you as well.

For every donation I receive, I will write your or your loved one's name on my shirt, and dedicate the biggest run of my life in their honor.
