My Story…
I'm running in memory of my Dad ❤️
In 2026, I will be running the Falmouth Road Race with Team Empower in memory of my Dad, Kevin.
It wasn't always sunshine and rainbows between my dad and I - he was a man of few words, so you knew he meant the ones he chose to speak. Above all things, he was steady, he was present, he showed up. Even when things felt complicated or muddy, you could count on him. That kind of strength - quiet, imperfect, but unwavering - is something I have come to understand and appreciate deeply over the years.
Since my Dad's passing, I've felt a strong pull to do something meaningful to honor his memory - something that reflected both his strength and the growth I've experienced in my own life. After running Falmouth for the first time last year, something shifted in me. There was a palpable energy that day - the community, the perseverance, the joy and pain through the course - that felt bigger than any single runner. Crossing that finish line, I knew this race was more than just another event - it was my opportunity to be a part of something grander.
It's So Much Deeper Than Running 🏃
Running has been a deeply personal journey for me in the last year. It started as a way to find joy in moving my body, but somewhere in those miles on the pavement it became something more. It became a way to process, to heal, and to grow. In the routine of laps around my neighborhood I found space - space to grieve, to reflect, and ultimately, to find a way back to myself.
This race is more than just 7 miles, its a tribute. It's a celebration of my Dad's life and the people he left here to carry his memory. It's proof that strength can be quiet, that laughter can coexist with loss, and that growth often begins when we decide to start with even just one step forward.
I will carry my Dad with my every step of the way ❤️

Empower is a nonprofit with a very specific mission — to empower, support, and connect children and young adults (up through age 24) who have experienced the loss of a parent. Empower provides events that remind children they are not alone in their grief, and a unique one-on-one mentor program with positive role models from the community who help teach, “loss is survivable.”
Cara was nine years old when her mother Kit died of breast cancer and formed Empower as a grassroots movement out of the gratitude she had for all the layers of support her family received growing up. Empower operates with a lean staff and thousands of volunteers from across the globe and all programs remain at no charge to the family.
