My Story…

I am proud to be running the Falmouth Road Race this year in support of Boston MedFlight. As a critical care nurse, I am continually inspired by their mission and the lifesaving work they do every day. Boston MedFlight provides rapid, highly specialized transport for critically ill and injured patients, ensuring they can reach the hospitals and advanced care they need throughout our region. Supporting this organization means supporting a team that brings expert critical care beyond hospital walls, and I am honored to run in recognition of the dedication and impact they have on patients, families, and healthcare providers every day. 🏃‍♂️🚁❤️

About Boston MedFlight:

All of you are hopefully familiar with Boston MedFlight in some capacity, but we’re proud to reintroduce who we are and why your support matters. Boston MedFlight is the leading nonprofit critical care transport organization, bringing the expertise and resources of a hospital intensive care unit (ICU) directly to patients—wherever they are and whenever we’re needed. Whether responding to an emergency scene or transferring a critically ill patient between hospitals, our team delivers seamless, patient-centered care during some of the most challenging moments in a person’s life.

As a nonprofit, we’re guided by one unwavering principle: every patient deserves access to lifesaving care, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. It’s a promise we’ve kept for more than 40 years. Each year, Boston MedFlight provides more than $7 million in free and unreimbursed care, ensuring that no patient is ever turned away. Your miles and fundraising efforts directly support that mission—helping us continue to care for anyone in need.

Our clinical teams are among the most highly trained and experienced in the nation, caring for patients of all ages—from the tiniest premature infants to elderly adults—across a wide range of medical conditions. These include adult and pediatric trauma, complex medical emergencies, cardiac and stroke events, high-risk obstetric and neonatal care, and interfacility transfers requiring specialty expertise.

We achieve this level of excellence through an uncompromising commitment to training and preparedness. Every Boston MedFlight clinician completes a rigorous onboarding and education program that goes far beyond standard orientation. This includes clinical rotations in hospital ICUs, emergency departments, and pediatric and neonatal intensive care units; high-fidelity simulation training for real-world emergency scenarios; procedural labs to master advanced skills; and classroom instruction on topics across critical care transport medicine.

Our work is made possible through a state-of-the-art fleet. This includes seven Airbus H145 helicopters and over a dozen mobile ICU ground vehicles—each equipped with the same advanced technology and medical capabilities found in top hospital ICUs.

Beyond the transports themselves, Boston MedFlight plays a vital role in supporting and educating our partners across the region. We regularly partner with first responders, hospitals, and other local organizations to share best practices, offer safety and training programs, and strengthen emergency response systems across the region. This collaboration helps extend our mission beyond the patients we physically transport—reaching countless others through education, outreach, and preparedness.

By running the Falmouth Road Race in support of Boston MedFlight, you become part of this mission. Every step you take and every dollar you raise helps ensure that our crews can continue responding to those in greatest need when it matters most.
