My Story…
On August 26, 2024 my entire life was turned upside down. My friend and I were on our way home from a weekend away when we were involved in a major car crash on Route 6 in Harwich, Massachusetts. As a result, I sustained a skull fracture, a subdural hematoma, and an epidural hematoma—injuries so severe they required an emergency craniotomy. I suffered a traumatic brain injury that led to an intensive care stay followed by an inpatient rehabilitation. The effects of the injury were overwhelming. I lost the ability to do even the most basic things on my own. My independence, my sense of self—everything changed in an instant.
The most difficult part of this unfortunate event is that I have no memory of an entire three to four weeks of my life. It feels as though I simply ceased to exist during that time, and coming to terms with that absence has been deeply unsettling.
Healing has been long, painful, and unpredictable, and I’m still fighting every day to regain what I’ve lost.
Every step I take in the Falmouth Road Race is something I once wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to do again. As a traumatic brain injury survivor, I know how hard the road to recovery can be—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
This race isn’t just about running. It’s about resilience, healing, and hope. I’m running for everyone who is still fighting their way back, one step at a time.
If you’re able, please consider donating to support brain injury survivors like me. Your support helps provide resources, recovery programs, and hope to those who need it most.
