My Story…

This year, I’m running my fifth Falmouth Road Race for Tommy’s Place. Tommy’s Place provides a special break from reality for kids fighting cancer, a place where they can relax with their families and enjoy a week away in a magical home on the Cape.

My first Falmouth road race was just a year after my pal Danny Sheehan passed away from pineoblastoma, after bravely battling the ugly disease for more than four years. Danny wasn’t well enough to stay at Tommy’s Place before he passed, but he did visit and has a (super cool) room dedicated to him, full of everything an eight year old boy loved. Danny’s memory lives on through everyone he touched during his brief life, and lacing up for 7 miles in his honor is just one small way I can help keep his memory alive.

Last year as I was struggling up a hill in the humidity, a man ran next to me and thanked me for running for Tommy’s Place. His niece was battling cancer and had recently stayed at the Centerville house, and he and his family were so thankful for that time. It was a nice reminder that all the fundraising efforts are worth it, and they truly do matter.

Please consider donating to Tommy’s Place to help other kids like Danny have the chance for a relaxing week with their families!
