My Story…

Last year, I had the privilege of running in the Falmouth Road Race for FACE, the Foundation to Advance Catholic Education, and it was an experience that meant more to me than I ever expected. The energy of the race, the generosity of supporters, and the shared mission of advancing Catholic education made every mile deeply meaningful. More importantly, it reminded me that this race is not just about running. It is about investing in the future of young people and making Catholic education accessible to those who need it most.

After crossing the finish line last year, I didn’t just stop. I kept jogging back along the course, running alongside people still making their way to the finish. Some were smiling, some were struggling, and some looked like they were seriously reconsidering their life choices that morning. Offering encouragement to runners who wanted to give up became one of the most meaningful moments of the day. Entering into their struggle, even for a few steps, reminded me of what it means to walk with others in their suffering. In many ways, it felt like a small reflection of the work we are called to do as Catholic educators, to meet people where they are, encourage them when things are hard, and remind them that they are capable of finishing the race.

As a product of Catholic education in high school, college, and graduate school, I have long known the tremendous impact it can have on the youth of today, especially in a world that is often devoid of faith and filled with false idols. Now, as I enter my second year as a Catholic educator, I am recognizing in an even deeper way just how important Catholic education truly is. Each day, I see firsthand how it forms young men not only academically, but spiritually, morally, and as leaders in their communities.

That belief led me to become part of this mission as I currently serve as Campus Minister at Calvert Hall College High School, a Lasallian all-boys high school in the Greater Baltimore area. It is a privilege to walk alongside students as they grow in faith, character, and purpose, sometimes in moments of great joy, and sometimes when they need someone to remind them they’re stronger than they think.

I am honored to once again run in the Falmouth Road Race for FACE, supporting the advancement of Catholic education in the Diocese of Fall River. This year, as I lace up my shoes again, I carry with me the faces of students, families, and fellow runners who remind me why this mission matters.

If you’re able, I invite you to join me in this mission by offering prayers, sharing this message, or making a donation to support FACE. Your support helps ensure that more young people have access to the life changing gift of Catholic education. And if you happen to be at the race, don’t be surprised if I’m running back along the course again, cheering people on. 🏃‍♂️
