Every year, the Genesis Foundation for Children hosts its annual Comedy Night — an evening of laughter and community that raises critical funds for children and families who need it most. Nine years ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited to one at Weston Golf Club. Before a single joke was told, a young patient took the stage to share his story. He was celebrating his 21st birthday, and what moved him most was something most of us would never think twice about — having his first drink with friends. A simple joy that meant everything to him. Because doctors hadn't expected him to see his third birthday.

I think about him on almost every training run when I run Falmouth. The odds were stacked against him. The researchers and clinicians who refused to accept those odds. And the quiet, profound strength it takes to fight for milestones that the rest of the world takes for granted.

That's what the Genesis Foundation for Children fights for every single day.

Why This Cause Is Different

Since 1982, the Genesis Foundation has provided diagnosis, care, and guidance to over 60,000 children and families across Massachusetts and New England. 

The hard reality of rare intellectual and genetic disorders is that most people have never heard of them.

They affect a small number of children, which means fewer research dollars, less public awareness, and families navigating some of the most frightening diagnoses imaginable with very little support. The Genesis Foundation fills that gap — giving children and families the time, answers, and resources they deserve, when they need them most.

My Goal: $3,000 

In 2024, you helped me raise over $1,660. I was grateful beyond words. This year, I'm back with renewed energy and a bigger ask: $3,000 — and we'll get there by the time I cross the finish line on August 16th.

No matter the amount — whether you donate $50, $100, $250, or $500 — your gift goes directly toward Genesis's life-changing mission, which includes funding The Feingold Service at Mass General for Children, MotherToBaby Massachusetts, therapeutic programs, and assistive technology for children with complex medical needs.
