My Story…
Working on the 4th Floor Oncology Unit at UMass changes you in ways that are hard to put into words. Every shift, I’m surrounded by people who redefine strength. I see patients who show up with courage on the hardest days of their lives. I work alongside nurses who give every ounce of their hearts to the people in their care. It’s impossible to walk these halls and not be changed by it. That’s why I’ve decided to run the Falmouth Road Race in support of the UMass Cancer Center.
It’s for every patient who walks onto our unit carrying fear but still manages to find hope. It’s for the patients who celebrate good scans, and for those who are still fighting through the toughest treatments.
It’s for the families who sit quietly at the bedside, holding hands through long days and longer nights.
And it’s for the nurses I have the privilege of working beside, the ones who show up again and again with compassion, patience, and strength, even on the days when the work is heavy. Every mile will be dedicated to the patients who inspire me and the nurses who make this work possible.
