My Story…
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I'm thrilled to join this special team for my 4th running of the Falmouth Road Race and the opportunity to raise funds for the 1019 Foundation which was started in memory of James Lavin and Owen Higgins who tragically lost their lives in December 2016.
1019 Mission & Community Impact
The 10-19 Foundation's mission is to provide scholarships to senior football, hockey, baseball and track athletes at Falmouth High School, as well as financial aid to youth athletes to assist with their participation in sports programs.
James & Owen
2026 marks the 10 year anniversary of the tragedy that not only impacted the family & friends of these young men and the entire Falmouth community, but the high school athletic network across the nation. James and Owen represented the definition of student athletes, leaders, captains, and individuals who made a positive impact on their peers. The loss is a reminder that life itself is a gift can cannot be taken for granted.
Why I Run for 1019
For the majority of the 1019 team, we grew up in Falmouth and the Road Race has always been a special event drawing tens of thousands to the great town of Falmouth. From watching the runners as kids to volunteer work as high schoolers, the Falmouth Road Race has held a special place in our hearts. John Lavin (James older brother) has been my best friend from 3rd grade to this day. We participated in youth sports together, went on numerous trips together, and became engrained into each others families. James was the closest thing I had to a little brother, I had the pleasure of watching him grow up and follow his Johns footsteps in sports, academics, and community impact.
What I've appreciated the most about joining this team and supporting this cause has been getting to know James and Owens close friends and the similarity it has to my close friends growing up in Falmouth. A small group of gentlemen who grew up together, faced challenges together, and still remain as close as they were during their high school years. A special thanks to Brandon Woodward who has and continues to dedicate hours of hard work, build awareness, and bring us together to celebrate the legacy of James and Owen so the youth in the Falmouth community have the opportunity to participate in sports regardless of their financial situation.
If you've made it this far, thanks again for coming to my page and learning about our fundraising mission at the 1019 Foundation. Any donation amount is extremely appreciated, all funds go towards the charity we support.
Thank you and see you on race day!
