My Story…
Hi, my name is Alyssa.
I’m a woman in long term recovery with 17 years sober, and the life I get to live today still amazes me. I’m married, I have two beautiful kids, and I’ve had the privilege of working in the recovery field for most of my recovery. The life I have today is something I once couldn’t imagine, and it exists because recovery was made possible for me.
Seventeen years ago, I was walking into my first recovery home with my mom and my aunt. We were scared, exhausted, and unsure if recovery was even possible for me.
On the front steps of that house, Bill from Recovery Without Walls sat down with the three of us and talked. It wasn’t a big speech, just a real conversation. But it was the first time my family felt hope. Hope that I could get better, and hope that there were safe, compassionate people who were going to stand in my corner.
That moment stayed with me.
For nearly two decades, Bill and the incredible team at Recovery Without Walls have been creating those same “front porch” moments for women and their families. Moments where hope starts to feel possible again.
This year I’m running my first road race in 10 years to raise money for Recovery Without Walls. Supporting them means helping make sure more women get the same chance at recovery that changed my life.
Thank you for supporting something that means so much to me.
