Help me fight Period Poverty with Dignity Matters!
It’s finally time! This August I will be running my first Falmouth Road Race!
Falmouth has always been a very special place for me. Growing up many of my summers were spent down the cape at my Grandfather’s cottage on Fenton street and packing up all the wagons to trek over to The Heights for a long day in the sun. It’s my home away from home and a place that will always hold a little bit of childhood magic for me.
As I got older I continued to make more memories, just in other ways. In 2022 I was studying Radiologic Technology at Massasoit Community College and Falmouth Hospital was assigned clinical site and where I would complete a great portion of my training. Later that summer I would spend five days a week taking x-rays and then race to the beach as soon as I got out to soak up the sun!
The Falmouth Road race has (silently) been on my bucket list for many years and I’m so excited that 2026 is finally my year to make it happen!
Description
I'm running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race with Team Dignity Matters to help homeless women manage their periods with dignity. Every $50 you donate provides a woman a year of free menstrual care and underwear!
Did you know you can't buy pads or tampons with SNAP/Food Stamps or WIC?
There's NO state or federal programs that help women in Massachusetts afford menstrual care. These items are expensive and rarely donated, so thousands face a difficult choice: use unhygienic alternatives like rags and toilet paper, or stay home and miss school and work. Lack of access to menstrual care is a “deal breaker:" regardless of the other resources available to them, women and girls cannot stay healthy and thrive without reliable access to menstrual care.
Dignity Matters is the largest nonprofit provider of free menstrual care and undergarments in Massachusetts. They help 17,000 women live with dignity every month - and for most of them, they are their only reliable source of these items. They partner with 180 nonprofit organizations (including shelters, food pantries, and schools) to make menstrual care accessible where these women live.
Dignity Matters gives women the dignity of choosing the size and style of menstrual care and undergarments they are comfortable using, and they make a commitment to each woman and each partner so they know they will have these items every month. Every item is donated by their community, or purchased with your financial contributions - and they stretch your dollar to support more women by using a manufacturing contract to buy items at wholesale prices. Every $50 gives a woman a year of menstrual care and underwear!
Thank you for helping me support Dignity Matters at the 2025 Falmouth Road Race!!
