Hi everyone! My name is Brooke and I am running the Falmouth Road Race as part of Doug Flutie Jr.’s Team for Autism! It is deeply meaningful to me because it combines physical challenge with intention and purpose. As a neuroscience major, I’ve spent the past four years at Dartmouth studying the brain and the complexities of conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder not just in theory, but with a genuine desire to contribute to better understanding and care. Joining this team allows me to take that passion beyond the classroom and turn it into a tangible impact.
What makes this especially important is the mission behind Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation; improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by ASD. The funds raised by running the Falmouth Road Race directly to to support for greater access to services, advocacy, and community resources. It’s not just about completing a race, but showing up for a cause that aligns with both my academic path and my commitment to helping others.
By running, I hope to raise awareness, contribute to meaningful change, and be part of a collective effort that uplifts individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.

Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, and his wife Laurie started the Doug Flutie, Jr. Flutie Foundation for Autism in 1998 after their son, Dougie, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Their personal experience of raising a son on the autism spectrum inspired them to help others on an equally long and challenging journey. Over its 27-year history, the Flutie Foundation has distributed over $25 million to schools and organizations that provide clinical therapies, respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, job supports and more for people affected by autism.
The Flutie Foundation also provides education technology tools, adaptive camp scholarships, safety equipment, and direct family support through its special programs. The Flutie Foundation’s newest initiative, Flutie Spectrum Enterprises, will help create businesses to employ adults with autism.
