Why this is important to me!
This August I’ll be running the Falmouth Road Race again (round 3), and this year I’m raising money for DetecTogether.
If you’ve ever run Falmouth, you know it’s a tough race but always a great time, which is why I keep coming back. I love the atmosphere, getting to do it with friends, and pushing myself a little more each year.
This year, though, it feels a bit more meaningful.
Recently, I lost someone close to me, my friend’s father and my hockey coach, Mike, after his battle with cancer. He was the kind of coach who brought out the best in you, teaching me and my teammates work ethic, discipline, and of course, how to forecheck.
Seeing how tough cancer can be and how quickly things can change has made this cause hit much closer to home.
That’s why I’m proud to support DetecTogether. Their focus is simple but incredibly important: helping people detect cancer early, when it’s most treatable. They provide education and tools to help people recognize warning signs and advocate for their health, something that can truly save lives.
