Thirteen years ago, when I got sober, I learned something important: recovery isn’t a destination – it’s a journey. 

Stopping drinking was only the beginning. Like many women in recovery, I had years of healing ahead of me. I spent a lot of time in therapy trying to understand my mental health, process trauma, and figure out why my body reacts so strongly to certain triggers. Living with PTSD means that sometimes my body reacts before my mind even understands what is happening. 

For a long time, that felt confusing and isolating. Then I found RWW. 

For the first time, I was surrounded by women who understood trauma and recovery. It became a safe place where I could speak honestly without guilt, shame, or embarrassment. Through this community I learned how to regulate my nervous system, gain awareness of my behaviors, and hold myself accountable in my healing. 

RWW introduced me to holistic practices that changed my life- breathwork, tapping techniques, acupuncture and other tools that helped me cope in healthy ways instead of self-medicating.

I don’t claim to be “healed”. Recovery is something I continue to work on every day. But today I have the awareness, discipline, and support system to care for my mind and live a healthier, more peaceful life. 

For 20 years, RWW has provided holistic healing, community, and recovery support to women completely free of charge because every woman deserves the chance to heal, grow, and discover just how strong she really is. 

Every dollar raised helps another woman begin her own healing journey. Because when woman heal, families heal, communities grow stronger, and hope becomes contagious.
