My Story…
I'm excited to announce that for the 3rd year in a row I will be running the Falmouth Road Race under the banner of Heart Warriors Foundation.
The Heart Warrior Foundation was created by the DiFava and Adamson families who were directly affected by Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) in their two children Genevieve and Will. After seeing firsthand the impact CHD’s have on the entire family unit, the DiFavas and Adamsons decided to create a nonprofit organization in which the goal is to support, educate, and raise funds and awareness for families affected by CHDs.
As many close to me know, my father suffered through years of worsening heart failure ultimately leading to a heart transplant in 2016. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of his transplant which has allowed him to watch four grandchildren enter into this world and be a part of their lives.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., claiming over 900,000 lives annually—roughly 1 in 3 deaths. Cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure, cause more deaths than all cancers and accidents combined.
It is through charities and fundraising events like this, that continued research and support in the battle against heart failure has taken such leaps and bounds in the past decade.
