Before I really knew Matt, we were newly friends on Facebook and he began to share the story of his niece, just three months old, very sick and in search of a new liver. 

Little did I know, that little girl would one day become my niece too🥹

Instead of enjoying the simple joys of a new baby, my now in laws and their family found themselves navigating hospital hallways, endless uncertainty, and the terrifying reality that this beautiful little girl needed a liver transplant to survive.  I spent some time looking back at every post over the last nine years that my sister in law Sarah has taken the time to write and educate to share Sloans story with the world. Holding their breath through every appointment, every setback, and every impossible decision, praying that somehow she would get the second chance she so desperately needed.

Then, because of extraordinary generosity, she did. A living donor gave Sloan the gift that no medicine could—a chance at life.

Today, Sloan is nine years old. She is vibrant, courageous, full of joy, and living proof that organ donation doesn’t just save a life—it gives a child the opportunity to grow up, laugh, dream, and create memories with the people who love them.

Watching Sloan fight with a strength far beyond her years changed us all! Her resilience inspired me, and her journey is the reason I registered to become an organ donor. Her transplant wasn’t the end of the story. Families like hers continue to face lifelong medical appointments, medications, financial burdens, and emotional challenges that most people never see. The transplant is the beginning of a new journey, not the finish line.

Tiny Transplant Titans stands beside children who have received life-saving transplants, those waiting for their miracle, those who will need one in the future, and the families walking every step of that difficult road. They provide hope, support, and remind families that they are never alone.

Every mile I run is for Sloan.
