My Story…

This summer, I’ll be running the Falmouth Road Race for my T1D warrior, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is 8 years old. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 5 years old on March 8, 2023.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that requires constant monitoring, insulin management, and vigilance, every single day and night. There are no breaks, no days off, and no cure. Elizabeth faces this challenge with more strength and resilience than I could have ever imagined, and she inspires me daily.

I’m running to support Breakthrough T1D, an organization dedicated to accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes and its complications. Their work gives families like ours hope for easier management, better technology, and ultimately, a cure.

Every mile I run is for Elizabeth.
Every donation brings us one step closer to a world without type 1 diabetes.

If you’re able, please consider supporting my run with a donation. No amount is too small, and every contribution makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us and for supporting Elizabeth and so many others living with T1D.

Description

Welcome to my personal Breakthrough T1D fundraising page!

I have joined Breakthrough T1D to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help Breakthrough T1D fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.

Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.

Breakthrough T1D is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar Breakthrough T1D is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.

The challenge I have set for myself — to raise money for Breakthrough T1D and to race — is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.

Please support me and donate to my fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to Breakthrough T1D as generously as possible today?

Thank you for your support!
