My Story…
I’m proud to be running the Falmouth Road Race in support of the Mental Health Collaborative.
Working in law enforcement in Massachusetts, I see firsthand how often mental health challenges show up at their worst. I don’t usually meet people on their best days. I meet them in crisis, when things have already escalated. A lot of those situations involve mental health struggles that went unrecognized or untreated for too long.
I am sure we all know someone who has struggled or still struggles with mental health challenges. I’ve personally dealt with my own mental health challenges and continue to work on them. These two perspectives have reinforced for me how important it is to understand what’s going on and not just push through it or ignore it. The difference between struggling in silence and having the right knowledge and support is huge.
That’s why this cause matters to me.
The Mental Health Collaborative’s mission is to build informed, resilient communities through education and awareness. They focus on something we don’t talk about enough: early education and awareness. Their work helps people recognize mental health struggles sooner, understand what they’re facing, and get help before it becomes a crisis. That doesn’t just change individual lives, it impacts families, communities, and even the calls first responders handle every day.
Every dollar counts toward our goal of building resilient communities through mental health literacy. Your donation can help Mental Health Collaborative reach their vision of proactively prioritizing mental well-being.
Running this race is personal to me for many reasons, but more importantly, it’s a chance to support work that can prevent those worst-case moments from happening in the first place.
If you’re able to contribute, any donation—big or small—makes a difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page helps just as much.
Thank you for your support.
