Help Julianna raise money

As an avid runner, the Falmouth Road Race is my favorite race of the year. The energy and camaraderie are infectious and unmatched, and this year I have the honor of running the FRR for The Laurie Melchionda Foundation. Laurie was a pillar in the nursing community and devoted her career to making an impact at Boston Children’s Hospital, in the Braintree and Weston Public School systems, and as a member of the Braintree and Weston Boards of Health. Laurie’s daughter, Juliana, is a dear friend of mine and a former colleague with whom I worked with as a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. I never had the privilege of meeting Laurie before her passing, but it is with great pride that I am able to raise funds that support the legacy she left behind.

The Laurie Melchionda Scholarship was established in 2022 at her alma mater, UMass Boston. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support to one or more undergraduate and/or graduate students in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. As a nurse myself and a former clinical instructor at UMass Boston, I know firsthand how impactful a solid foundation is, and how much a scholarship can support future nursing students. It’s my privilege to run and raise money for a purpose so close to my heart on so many levels. Thank you for your consideration—let’s continue to spread “Laurie’s Love of Life”!
