I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to END ALZ!
Seven years ago, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. At the time, I understood it as a disease that affected memory, but over the years, I came to see how deeply it impacts every part of a person's life—and the lives of everyone who loves them.
My mom was the heart of our family. She had a way of making people feel welcome, remembered every birthday, and could light up a room with her kindness and laughter. As Alzheimer's progressed, we watched her struggle with things that once came so naturally. The disease slowly took away memories, conversations, and pieces of the person we knew.
Last month, my mom passed away from complications related to dementia. While losing her has been incredibly difficult, it has also strengthened my commitment to this cause. Alzheimer's is more than memory loss. It changes families, challenges caregivers, and leaves a lasting impact on everyone it touches.
This year, I am running the Falmouth Road Race in memory of my mom and in support of the Alzheimer's Association. I am running to honor the woman she was, to support families currently facing this disease, and to help fund the research that will one day lead to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
The Alzheimer's Association provides critical support for individuals and families while advancing research that gives hope to future generations. Their work is making a difference, and I am proud to support their mission.
If you are able, I would be grateful for your support. Every donation helps advance research, provide resources for families, and move us closer to a world without Alzheimer's.
Thank you for reading my story, for remembering my mom, and for supporting this cause that means so much to me.
