I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to END ALZ!
Seven years ago, my family received the news that would change our lives—my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. At the time, I knew Alzheimer’s as a condition that affected memory, but I had no idea just how deeply it would impact every part of our lives. Watching my mom—someone who has always been the heart of our family—gradually lose parts of herself has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced.
She was always the person who kept everyone else together. She remembered birthdays, asked the best questions, and could light up a room with her kindness and laughter. Slowly, that began to change. First it was little things—repeating questions, forgetting names, losing track of time. Over the years, those small changes have become much more profound. Today, there are times when she struggles to recognize familiar faces or follow simple conversations. As her memory fades, so do parts of the bond we once shared—and that’s a grief that’s hard to put into words.
Despite everything, she still shows strength in her own way. She still smiles. She still hums along to familiar songs. And even on the tough days, she reminds me—just by being herself—why this fight is so important.
That’s why I’m running the Falmouth Road Race for the Alzheimer’s Association. This race is not just a personal challenge—it's a symbol of hope and action. I’m running to honor my mom and every family impacted by this disease. I’m running to raise money for research so we can get closer to a cure. I’m running to support caregivers, who face emotional, physical, and financial burdens every single day. And I’m running so that one day, other families won’t have to walk this same painful road.
The Alzheimer’s Association plays a vital role in research, advocacy, and support. They provide resources for families, fund scientific breakthroughs, and give people like me a way to channel our love and pain into something meaningful.
If you can, I’d be incredibly grateful for your donation. Every dollar brings us one step closer to a world without Alzheimer’s. Every step I run, I’ll be thinking of my mom—and all of the people still fighting.
Thank you for reading my story. And thank you for supporting this cause that means the world to me.
