Support my Falmouth Road Race Run for Good Shepherd Community Care
I am excited to run the Falmouth Road Race this year in support of Good Shepherd Community Care, an organization whose work reflects values that are deeply personal to me.
I lost my mom to cancer when I was young. That experience shaped the way I understand death, grief, and the importance of showing up for one another during life's most difficult moments. This year, I reached an age my mother never did. It has been a tender milestone and a reminder not to take time for granted—to cherish the people I love, to live fully in the present, and to support others as they navigate illness, dying, and loss. It is also part of what led me to become an end-of-life doula and death educator, and to found Estuary End-of-Life Care.
Through my work with Living While Mortal, a community-based death education initiative I co-lead, I help create spaces where people can explore life, death, and what matters most. We believe that when we can talk more openly about mortality, we become more present, less fearful, and more connected—to ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. Reclaiming death helps us reclaim life, and we don't have to do it alone.
This philosophy is one reason I love running. Running reminds me that life is finite and precious. It invites me to be present, appreciate what my body can do today, and stay connected to what matters most.
I'm especially proud to be running for Good Shepherd Community Care because they are not only providing exceptional hospice and palliative care, but are also a sponsor of Living While Mortal, helping make our community education work possible. After attending their Annual Dinner this spring, I came away deeply impressed by their compassionate staff, meaningful support for children and families, and commitment to equity. From helping families facing financial barriers to addressing racial inequities in healthcare and centering LGBTQ+ communities, they are working to ensure that everyone can access high-quality, compassionate care.
At Living While Mortal, our goal is to help people live more fully into their finite lives. At Good Shepherd, that same spirit is reflected in the care they provide every day. I am honored to support their work and grateful for any contribution you can make.
Thank you for helping ensure that more individuals and families receive the care, dignity, and support they deserve.
