My Story…
We recently lost our niece and cousin, Macy Burgess, to pediatric cancer. Last summer, one of the brightest weeks for Macy was with her closest friends and cousins for a week on the Cape generously provided by Tommy's Place, a non-profit that owns and operates magical vacation homes for kids fighting cancer. It was time that enabled Macy to be a kid outside of cancer. A Massachusetts based charity, Tommy's Place has two homes on the Cape that are specifically designed for kids and are equipped with game rooms, movie theaters, craft rooms, pools, and beyond. Kid-friendly murals fill the walls and the many bedrooms for friends and family to visit are playfully themed as children's movies and books. This non-profit's mission is: "To make sure kids fighting cancer have a place to relax, make memories and most importantly, have fun." I am running the Falmouth Road Race to honor Macy's legacy and offer continued support for an organization that seeks to let kids thrive in the hardest times of their lives.
