My Story…
This August, I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to raise money for Recovery Without Walls, a nonprofit doing some of the most important work I've seen in this field: meeting women in recovery where they actually are.
After years working in recovery, I noticed a pattern that's hard to ignore. Women face more barriers to treatment than men, and far less of what's available is built around their real needs. Trauma, motherhood, safety, healthcare, housing, the things that shape a woman's path into addiction and out of it, often get treated as afterthoughts. Recovery Without Walls is changing that. They're providing the kind of individualized, dignified support that gives women a real shot at long-term recovery, not just a temporary fix. That's the work I'm running for.
A little about why this race matters to me personally: I ran the Falmouth road race two years ago during one of the darkest stretches of my life. I wasn't sure I'd see the other side of that summer, but I did. A year later, I hit an SUV at 50 mph on my motorcycle and walked away with chronic pain I'm still managing. I was signed up to run Frc again last year and had to sit it out. This year, I'm getting back on the course, for them.
My goal is $1,500, and every dollar goes directly to Recovery Without Walls and the women they serve. If you can donate, share, or both, it means more than you know.
Thank you for being part of this with me
