Bryson's Story

I’ve told the story before, about how when I was a child, Mass Eye & Ear saved my life. 

Last year I told the story of how my 5 year old, Bryce was diagnosed with significant hearing loss due to a Cholesteatoma in his right ear.

Early 2025 Bryce underwent a 6 hour long surgery to remove the Cholesteatoma, longest day of my life, but he did great. Fast forward to December 2025 - he showed to have zero hearing in that ear. He underwent another extensive surgery to try to rebuild his ear and implant prosthetic hearing bones (wow modern medicine.

Unfortunately, we learned in March 2026 that his hearing did not improve at all. And in order to give him the best chance in life and in school we needed another option.

July 2026 Bryce will have another surgery to implant a Cochlear Implanted Hearing Device. He is wearing a headband version now and can hear so well, so we know this is the BEST option for him.  

Kids are so funny, they adapt so well. No one can tell anything is wrong and he just continues on being Bryce - Playing Hockey, Messing with his Brothers (annoying his sister), playing Basketball in the driveway, Little Leagues newest homerun hitter, flag football enthusiast and a new love for Minecraft on Nintendo. 

To show my overwhelming gratitude for all they have done. I am running (yet again!) the Falmouth for Mass Eye and Ear. Bryce’s journey isn’t over, we have more surgeries scheduled and he will be followed for his lifetime. But because of Mass Eye and Ear and their quick response his future his filled with so much possibilities!
