Thank you for visiting my fundraising page in support of KeepSmilin4Abbie®! As someone with a food allergy, the foundation is personal to me, and your support will aid in the research and prevention of future anaphylactic reactions in memory of Abbie. 

The KeepSmilin4Abbie Foundation’s mission is simple: #stopanaphylaxis®. There are almost 20 million people at risk of sudden death from anaphylaxis in this country. Recent studies estimate up to 5% of the GLOBAL population is at risk. We were formed in 2014 shortly after Abbie Benford died from an anaphylactic reaction to food. The Foundation funds research into early detection of an anaphylactic reaction to food, medicine, insect venom or latex. We also fund awareness programs and two scholarships in Abbie’s memory at Hopkinton High School. 

In 2025 the Foundation invested in Anjo.ai, a company working on a device to detect anaphylaxis and we made a grant to the Wyss Institute at Harvard University to study gut health in allergy and anaphylaxis patients. Earlier this year we funded a grant at the University of Michigan to study water loss in skin and thoracic impedance during anaphylaxis.
